How much does it cost?
As an introductory offer, Ryse is offering School Selection Info Sessions at 50% off the standard price for a cost of $40 per family. However, we believe firmly every family deserves access to great information to make great choices for their child. That’s why we offer sliding scale pricing, making it easier for everyone to participate. Please feel warmly invited to select the price that makes this experience accessible for your family. Families wishing to help expand Ryse’s reach to support more families may also choose to pay it forward with an above-and-beyond contribution.
No matter what you pay, you’ll receive the same high-quality support.
-
What geographic area of schools is included?
At the moment, School Selection Info Sessions primarily focus on public schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) in terms of providing details about the lottery. However, the school data included in our School Search Tool and the overall landscape of school options we discuss pertain to the entire state of North Carolina.
-
Who should attend?
These sessions are ideal for families of all backgrounds seeking great schools for their children, including parents, grandparents, foster parents, and anyone in a parenting role. They're especially beneficial for families currently in Charlotte, those looking to move to Charlotte, or those preparing for future school choices. We look forward to expand our support for speakers of many languages in the future, but in this initial offering provide sessions in English.
-
What topics are covered?
Sessions cover various important topics, including the different types of schools (magnets, charters, traditional, virtual, etc.), key dates and steps for participating in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools choice lottery, common misinformation that leads families astray, what research says about choosing great schools, and a suggested process for evaluating your school options.
-
Are sessions offered in-person or virtually?
We primarily offer sessions virtually to accommodate families from various locations. However, in-person sessions can be arranged upon request. For those interested in in-person sessions, please drop us a line here.
-
None of the times offered work with my schedule. Are there other opportunities to participate?
You can find all of the times currently offered here. After this initial offering of sessions in October of 2024, we will release more options for the coming months. Sign up to be notified as additional sessions become available here.
If none of those times fit your schedule, please let us know what times would work better for you. Your feedback will help us provide times that work for more families! And, if we are able to arrange an additional session that works for you and others, we would be happy to. You may also inquire about private sessions that can be arranged around your availability.
-
Can non-profits host a School Selection Info Session with Ryse?
Yes! Ryse is delighted to partner with nonprofits that support families navigating economic challenges to offer sessions free of charge. To learn more, please reach out to us here.
-
What if I am only interested in private schools?
While School Selection Info Sessions primarily focus on public school options, there is a very brief overview of private schools as a whole. However, limited public data on private schools prevent a deep exploration of these educational settings. Therefore, families exclusively interested in private schools may not find these sessions as beneficial as families considering public options. We do explore traditional public schools, magnet schools, and charter schools in the state of North Carolina.
